Manager of Power Generation
The Manager of Power Generation provides leadership and oversight for Kodiak Electric Association's Power Generation Department, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient production of electricity for the Cooperative and its members. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this position is responsible for the overall performance of power generation facilities and equipment, including supervising a team of technicians and operators, managing departmental budgets, overseeing maintenance programs and ensuring compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The role also involves developing departmental goals and plans, participating in strategic and operational meetings, supporting long-term system reliability initiatives and maintaining positive relationships with employees, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering and have at least ten years of power generation experience. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills are essential for success in this role.

Power Generation Technician
This position performs skilled technical work to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Kodiak Electric Association's power generation facilities. This full-time union position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment and instrumentation associated with KEA's Power Generation Department, including GE 1.5 MW wind turbines, the Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS), Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), diesel electric generators and related plant equipment and facilities.
This position plays a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of KEA's diverse generation resources through preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and general facility upkeep. The successful candidate will have strong experience troubleshooting and maintaining wind turbines, with GE 1.5 MW wind turbine experience highly preferred. Responsibilities also include supporting the operation and maintenance of diesel engines, hydroelectric turbines, generators and associated electrical and mechanical systems while adhering to all safety protocols and operational procedures.
Qualified candidates must possess a valid Alaska Journeyman Electrical Certificate of Fitness and significant experience in diesel power plant operations and/or wind turbine maintenance. Extensive knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures, dispatch switching orders, maintenance management systems, electrical systems, air systems, water systems, fuel and oil systems, hydraulic systems and industry-standard tools is required. Strong technical troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety are essential for success in this role.

Journeyman Lineman
This position performs skilled work in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of Kodiak Electric Association's overhead and underground electrical distribution system. This position is responsible for installing and maintaining poles, conductors, transformers, switches and other line equipment; troubleshooting and restoring service outages; operating specialized line equipment; and ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations, APPA Safety Manual guidelines and KEA safety standards. The Journeyman Lineman reads maps and system diagrams, patrols and inspects power lines, performs tree trimming and streetlight maintenance and supports system reliability through preventive and corrective maintenance activities. This role also provides guidance to Apprentice Linemen, may serve in temporary lead assignments and is committed to delivering safe, reliable electric service and exceptional customer satisfaction.
