Kodiak Electric Association’s scholarship program offers financial assistance to selected graduating seniors and continuing education students who show leadership potential and the capacity to make a significant contribution to the Kodiak or Port Lions communities upon completion of their formal education.

2019 Scholarships Application Deadline:  February 15, 2019
All complete applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 15, 2019 at the Kodiak Electric Association office at 1614 Mill Bay Road, Kodiak, Alaska, 99615.  The KEA Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate all complete application packets based on scholastic achievement, character, leadership, community involvement, educational goals, and potential future contributions to the cooperative and/or the community. 


KEA is offering fifteen (15) scholarships totaling $55,000.

*The number of all scholarships awarded and the amounts of all scholarships awarded are subject to change by direction of the KEA Board of Directors.


2019 Graduating High School Seniors from KIBSD Programs

*One (1) Marion Soule Academic Scholarship - $12,000-$15,000
This is a four-year scholarship awarded to only one student each year.  Applicant must be a graduating senior from Kodiak High School, Port Lions High School, a Kodiak Island Borough School District Program, or a correspondence study or distance delivery program accredited by the State of Alaska Department of Education, and must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0.  Applicant must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association. 


*One (1) $7,000 Academic Scholarship
*Three (3) $3,00 Academic Scholarships
These are one-time scholarship awards. Applicant must be a graduating senior from Kodiak High School, Port Lions High School, a Kodiak Island Borough School District Program, or a correspondence study or distance delivery program accredited by the State of Alaska Department of Education, and must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5. Applicant must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.


2019 Graduating High School Seniors and Continuing Education Students


*Three (3) $3,000 Vocational/Career and Technical Education Scholarship
These are one-time scholarship awards. Applicant may be a graduating senior OR may have previously attended high school, and is pursuing formal vocational/career technical education/training to prepare for a career in a trade, and/or technical or skilled service occupation, including health occupations. Applicant must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.


Four (4) $3,000 Full-Time Continuing Education Scholarships
These are one-time scholarship awards. Applicant must be enrolled full-time carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in a college program, or be accepted as a full-time student leading toward a bachelor or master degree. Applicant must have completed 12 or more college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5 at any accredited school. Applicant or applicant’s immediate family must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.


Three (3) $1,000 Part-Time Continuing Education Scholarships
These are one-time scholarship awards. Applicant must be enrolled part-time carrying a minimum of 6 credit hours but less than 12 credit hours at the University of Alaska Anchorage Kodiak College, or in an accredited correspondence study or distance delivery program. Applicant must have completed 12 or more college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5 at any accredited school. Applicant or applicant’s immediate family must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.
