Kodiak Electric Association's scholarship program offers financial assistance to selected graduating seniors and continuing education students who show leadership potential and the capacity to make a significant contribution to the Kodiak or Port Lions community upon completion of their formal education.  

2017 Scholarships Application Deadline:  February 17, 2017

KEA is offering the following fifteen (15) scholarships totaling $37,000.

2017 Graduating High School Seniors from KIBSD Programs


One (1) $15,000 Marion Soule Scholarship

This is a four-year scholarship awarded to only one student each year. Applicant must be a graduating senior from Kodiak High School, Port Lions High School, a Kodiak Island Borough School District Program, or a correspondence study or distance delivery program accredited by the State of Alaska Department of Education, and must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0. Applicant must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.

One (1) $3,500 Academic Scholarship
Three (3) $1,500 Academic Scholarships

These one-time scholarships will be awarded to four students. Applicant must be a graduating senior from Kodiak High School, Port Lions High School, a Kodiak Island Borough School District Program, or a correspondence study or distance delivery program accredited by the State of Alaska Department of Education, and must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 2.5. Applicant must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.

2017 Graduating High School Seniors and Continuing Education Students


One (1) $2,000 Vocational/Career and Technical Education Scholarship
Two (2) $1,500 Vocational/Career and Technical Education Scholarships

These one-time scholarships will be awarded to three students. Applicant may be a graduating senior OR may have previously attended high school and is pursuing formal vocational training to prepare for a career in a trade, and/or technical or skilled service occupation, including health occupations. Applicant must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.

2017 Continuing Education Students


Four (4) $1,500 Full–Time Continuing Education Scholarships

These one-time scholarships will be awarded to four students. Applicant must be enrolled full-time carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in a college program, or be accepted as a full-time student leading toward a bachelor or master degree. Applicant must have completed 12 or more college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5 at any accredited school. Applicant or applicant's immediate family must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.


Three (3) $1,000 Part–Time Continuing Education Scholarships

These one-time scholarships will be awarded to three students. Applicants must be enrolled part-time carrying a minimum of 6 credit hours but less than 12 credit hours at the University of Alaska Anchorage Kodiak College, or in an accredited correspondence study or distance delivery program. Applicant must have completed 12 or more college credits with a minimum GPA of 2.5 at any accredited school. Applicant or applicant's immediate family must be receiving service from Kodiak Electric Association.

All complete applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 17, 2017 at the KEA office at 1614 Mill Bay Road, Kodiak, Alaska, 99615. The KEA Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate all complete application packets based on scholastic achievement, character, leadership, community involvement, educational goals, and potential future contributions to the cooperative and/or the community.
